Technology advances, consolidations, burdens imposed by Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory compliance requirements have created a costly environment when disposing of excess and outdated IT technology. Disposal options appropriate even 12 months ago might be illegal and constitute higher costs in 2006. CEO's and IT executives need to be aware of the financial impact when considering disposal options for older technology.
Industry experts estimates that through 2009, consumers and businesses will replace more than 800 million PC's worldwide, disposing of an estimated 64 percent of these (512
million).
The bottom line is that PC disposal costs are increasing.
